In City Hall
This should stoke the fires a bit. I'm not even going to give it much of an intro. You know the score. Just don't pretend to be confused when I say that a prerequisite to being a liberal is to hate the military, and more specifically, my beloved U.S. Marine Corps. Liberals may or may not be anti-conservative, but they are certainly anti-Marine.
It's almost like the police are there to facilitate the harassment of Marines. Check it out. You'll be floored.

Well, certainly the elected officials have more sense than that. Right? Hmmmm. Not so fast.
Imagine if this horrible treatment was motivated by ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religious preference? It brings to mind cross burnings, disenfranchisement, threats, vandalism and attempted or successful murder. All of those things should sicken you, as it does me. Now imagine that it's mandated and driven by the local government. Sort of like local police in the south protected KKK members as they harassed black people, to drive them out of "their" towns, or to keep them from voting. Now multiply that horror by the fact that they are doing it to their protectors.
Ok, so here's the fallout. Protection granted by the federal forces is a common good. Which means you can't selectively defend only the good Americans while leaving the bad Americans vulnerable. It's sort of like the EPA, or roads, or something. But that doesn't mean that Berkley is entitled to earmarked federal funds. There was recently such a vote in Congress to stop providing Berkley with extra federal money, as a direct result of their attacks on Marines. Surely in this enlightened age of 2008, the vote would be nearly unanimous to stop rewarding this garbage.
But here's the kicker.
Not a single Democrat voted for it. Not a single one. They were all in lockstep with Code Pink trying to drive out the Marines. You know how they did it?

Instead of adjourning at the end of a day as usual, the Senate “recessed” twice, a move that, under Senate rules, slows the process of adding new bills to the calendar. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) did not adjourn until last Friday, effectively pushing back floor consideration on the GOP bill until Tuesday — the same day that the city council is likely to tone down its call for Marine Corps recruiters to leave town.

I don't understand how that's legal.
What.
The.
FUCK?!
I find it mildly amusing that a university town is full of complete idiots.
Or maybe that's sad.
My parents have started protesting at city hall, all they ask of the city is to stop the gun violence in their neighborhood. Highest Murder rate last year ever and 3 dead from gun violence last month..already nearly half of what it was all last year. so I fuess another record. And I live in a tiny town! 35,000 population.
The reactions is this...the mayor rolls her eyes when they plead their case and it is not just my parents but a group of 65+ people! The get called racists because they are white and all the violence is perpetuated by blacks. And lastly the are called terrorists, because they are demanding and showing up in person and not just letting the city council pass laws about banning plastic bags because they are China's secret attack on us, I kid you not this was what one of the council memebers said.
I don't mean to take away from your point about the Marines I just wanted to extend this view outwards..to show that city hall is pretty much fucked for us all.
Yeah, Bucket. I'm real big on using words according to their meaning. When people throw around the word "racist" to stifle argument, it really sucks. What sucks the most about it, is that the comparison works both ways.
If a reasonable statement = racism;
Then a racism = a reasonable statement.
Which of course, is super-duper outragous. I don't like it when people do it with 'terrorism' or 'genocide' or 'mass murder' either.
Words have meaning.
